Background
Samsung Heavy Industries hosts major milestone events to share the progress of ships under construction with their clients. For clients who cannot attend in person, we created a metaverse-based platform that allows them to join the event remotely, explore the event space, and interact in real time. We also developed a tool called 3DP that converts ship CAD data so it can be used not only in this metaverse platform but also in other solutions that require 3D models.
Virtual Platform
1 Lauching / LoadingI designed the launch and loading screens for the Virtual Platform, a metaverse-based application.

2 Sign In / T&C / Sign OutThis is the sign in screen. The background video was created using high-resolution ship images and AI generation with Runway AI.

Takeaways
I was the only designer on this project, and I created all the UI screens and the design library for the two programs. It was a project where I could fully focus on UI and visual design from start to finish.
I also used AI for the first time to create background videos using RunwayAI. The client didn’t realize the video was AI-generated until the final presentation, which showed that it blended in naturally. I also designed the voice-recognition animation used during microphone interactions, which allowed me to try the visual idea.
Through this project, I learned more about how users explore content and communicate in real time in a metaverse environment, and how UI design can help users stay focused in a game-like experience.
